In The Beginning 2
G’day!
how are you? It’s nice to live in God’s creation, isn’t it? Today we look at how God made humans.
Many years ago, an African man was helping some Christians. He was their cook. As they traveled telling people about Jesus, well, he enjoyed listening to the men talk.
One night after listening to the men talk about how God made human beings, the African cook said, “You know I think I now understand…When God made the world, He made it out of His power. But when He made man, He made him out of Himself.” The other Christian men replied, “I think You’re beginning to understand!”
Let’s see if the Bible can help us to understand…
Bible Reading
Genesis 1:26-31
26 God said, “Now we will make humans, and they will be like us. We will let them rule the fish, the birds, and all other living creatures.”
27 So God created humans to be like himself; he made men and women. 28 God gave them his blessing and said:
Have a lot of children! Fill the earth with people and bring it under your control. Rule over the fish in the ocean, the birds in the sky, and every animal on the earth.
29 I have provided all kinds of fruit and grain for you to eat. 30 And I have given the green plants as food for everything else that breathes, including animals, both wild and tame, and birds. And so it was.
31 God looked at what he had done. All of it was very good! Evening came, then morning—that was the sixth day.
Consider This
Who is “we”? (verse 26)
What does it mean by “They will be like us
and resemble us?What did God make human beings for? Have we done this?
Read verse 31, why was God “Very pleased”?
To Think About
Have you heard the story about the man who was driving along in his ford and it broke down? well, the man jumped out and looked at the engine but he could find nothing wrong with it.
As he stood there, another car came into sight and the man waved it down to help. Out of a brand-new Ford stepped a tall, friendly man who asked, “Well, what’s the trouble?” “I cannot get this Ford to move, “ replied the man.
The stranger looked at the engine, touched and turned a few things, and then said, “Now start the car.” When the motor started, its grateful owner introduced himself, said thanks and asked the man what his name was. “My name”, the stranger replied, “is Henry Ford!” The one who made the car knew how to make it run. God made you and me, and He alone knows how to run your life and mine. When Jesus is in control, we’re on a safe road. Without Him, we can do nothing.
